The Sam E. Jonah School of Business (AUCC) and Knowledge Innovations have successfully trained twenty-two (22) industry players and professionals in an intensive 4-day Professional Certificate Training Course in Financial Technology (FinTech) and Innovations from 23-26 June 2021. The course equipped participants from the banking sector, regulatory agencies, insurance companies, micro credits companies, savings and loans firms, pension, and FinTech companies with skills and knowledge to take advantage of the ever-growing multi billion FinTech industry through innovations.

The course focused on areas such as; Financial Technologies and Digital transformation, Fintech key trends and applications, FinTech legal and regulatory framework, technologies and innovations driving Fintech, digital payment, and emerging technologies driving Fintech.

The course faculty and guest presenters were exceptional and world-class thought leaders: Kwami Ahiabenu II, a leading tech and innovations expert; Martin Kwame Awagah, a financial analyst, Emeka Okoye, CEO of Vikantti Software, Kojo Dougan, an experienced FinTech Expert, Clara Arthur, a financial technology professional, (CGAP- World Bank), Evans Musodza, CEO of Veneka(South Africa), Yinsongti Tindana, an attorney, Saqib Nazir, a technology entrepreneur, Ali Hussein Kassim, CEO- Kipochi(Kenya), and Dr. Majid Malaika and Ashraf Khan (International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The President of African University College of Communication (AUCC), Dr. Christopher Akwaa-Mensah, in his remarks, said, “This is a very great and innovative step, and I hope that with time, the course will become a degree course.”

A very satisfied participant from the finance sector described the training as timely and worth it, “This was by far an excellent program. Very educative and enlightening. It is very timely and needs to be continued.” She added.

According to Mr. Augustine Harun, a participant from National Insurance Commission, “The course was a very insightful introduction to the fast-changing landscape and trajectory of Fintech, the delivery was on point, and the experienced guest lecturers always made it simplified and relational to the theoretical aspects.”

The next cohort FinTech and Innovations course take place from October 23 to November 13, 2021.
