South Africa’s fintech working group calls for regulation of crypto exchanges: South Africa’s Intergovernmental FinTech Working Group released a new position paper on crypto-assets. In it, they call for the regulation of the country’s current cryptocurrency system.

Less cash, less theft? Evidence from fintech development in the people’s republic of China: This paper investigates the impact of fintech development on an important type of crime: theft. Based on Becker’s rational criminal theory. The results show that a one standard deviation increase in the fintech development level has a significant association with a 0.39 standard deviation decrease in thefts’ density.

eNaira website launched:Nigeria’s Central Bank has launched a website for its digital currency, eNaira, ahead of the official launch which is to take place on October 1, 2021.The website details the digital currency, eNaira. The eNaira, both a medium of exchange and store of value, will be used in retail payments and remittances.
