Applications open for the the inaugural cohort for the Women in Fintech Fellowship Program. The purpose is to inspire more women to join in creating awareness about the fintech ecosystem on the continent. The fellowship is expected to create a platform to share ideas and collaborate to build products that benefit and are useful to Women of African descent. Applicants are not expected to have any experience in financial services or fintech, however, they need to have an open mind to learn and explore. Applications are open to applicants from all backgrounds.
Women are severely underrepresented in the fintech ecosystem and yet have the potential to contribute significantly as the predominant controllers of household expenditure. Financial services have limited offerings for solutions that cater to women and this fellowship is designed to empower participants to change this.
